Education

Development can happen only by the transformation of individuals, communities and the elimination of factors at the root of poverty, such as illiteracy and lack of education. To do this, SOPAR is working with local communities to improve education, to fight against child labor and to ensure that more children from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to quality education.

Supporting orphan’s education

In 1994, Bala Vikasa and SOPAR inaugurated the women development program that continues today and reaches 187,000 women. In addition to undertaking their own literacy activities, they encourage members of their community to promote child education and to take tangible steps to get there.

In the same way they have been helped, they decided to help others in need and to show solidarity with the poor in their village, particularly orphans. On a voluntary basis, women identify orphans from their villages and register them in boarding schools. They follow and monitor the progress of the orphans throughout the year. In collaboration with the support of Canadian donors and the contribution of Indian women, today 6500 orphans can continue their education and think of a better future.
