Solidarity Trip to India
There is a saying that one must see to believe. For the past 30 years SOPAR has benefited from the generous support of Canadian donors that, without having to see, believed that with a little help, people in India could improve their lives. It is with the intention of showing Canadians the results and the quality of SOPAR’s work that we are organizing trips to India on a yearly basis. These trips are based on the concepts and values of solidarity tourism. Solidarity Tourism is a form of alternative tourism which enables travelers to help improve the living conditions of communities. This type of travel aims to support development activities and allows travelers to experience a reality of the country they are visiting which is not easily accessible in traditional tours.
With SOPAR, you will be taken off the beaten track and you will visit small villages where people work as best they can to earn a living. You will be seeing and experiencing the work being done in the communities of Andhra Pradesh and you will learn more about culture, customs and everyday life. You will be inspired to see how people work to change their own environment.
After a group of Canadians traveled to India to visit our programs, they said “that was a life changing experience!" This is how Nicole Lund described her adventure in India. She was moved by a conversation with an Orphan child that will forever remain photographed in her memory.

Our solidarity tour is offered in November or/and January of each year (Provided we have a minimum of 5 people).
