Schools Working Together
Millions of children worldwide do not have access to a quality educational environment, and less than half the children in developing countries make it to high school! The Schools Working Together project teaches young people about the importance of education, and gives them a chance to contribute to the academic success of Indian students by equipping a rural school with desks and seats.
The Challenge
Through a range of activities, students raise $800 to outfit a class of 30-50 Indian students with quality desks and seats.
The Impact
The new desks and seats allow students to benefit from a proper learning environment. By improving the learning conditions of young children, we increase their chances of academic success and the likelihood that they will play an active role in society as adults.
At the end of the year, SOPAR will send the school a commemorative plaque and thank you letter including a photo of the newly equipped school in India!
Registration
Registration occurs between September and December. It is possible to register after December. However, if you do so, SOPAR cannot guarantee the commemorative plaque will be sent before the end of the school year.
Awareness-Raising
Before you begin fundraising activities, take time to inform students about the theme of your chosen component (i.e. Water or Education). Feel free to use the educational material provided to you!
Activities
Take roughly two weeks to help your students raise funds by conducting various social activities. Use the facilitator’s guide and tip sheet to aid you, as they contain many helpful suggestions.
