Our partners

Bala Vikasa is a non-profit development organization, without religious or political affiliation, that is recognized by the Indian government.  It was founded in 1990 by Angèle Gingras, who is also the founder of SOPAR.

As the principal partner of SOPAR, Bala Vikasa benefits from our continous financial and technical support. All of our joint development programs and the experience acquired over the years are the product of a close and collaborative relationship between the two organizations. Within this partnership, the two organizations make every effort to promote effective and mutually respectful intercultural relations.

Bala Vikasa is also supported by other donors and although some of its programs in the field are not directly financed by SOPAR, they are the result of SOPAR and Bala Vikasa's close collaboration and reflect the vision and approach of the sister organisations.

Our Funding

Funding for SOPAR’s programs comes from diverse sources, particularly from the Government of Canada provided through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), private institutions, foundations and the generosity of our members.

All of our activities conform to rigorous ethical standards related to competence, professionalism and quality. Our Code of Ethics, adopted in 1998, was inspired by the one adopted by the Canadian Council for International Cooperation (CCIC).
